Former Minister of Transportation, Abiye Sekibo, has called on President Bola Tinubu to support Rivers State governor Siminalayi Fubara.
He described the governor as a unifying force in Rivers politics and also urged the people to stand by him as he navigates the complexities of governance.
Sekibo, who had also served as the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, dismissed political narratives suggesting that Governor Fubara’s administration is being influenced by loyalists of the former Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

He argued that former Atiku allies are also within the President’s political camps in Abuja.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Borikiri Fire Service Outstation in Port Harcourt, Sekibo reminded the audience of the political resilience of Rivers people, particularly the women of Okrika and Ogu/Bolo, who protested unclad in 2019 to resist alleged electoral malpractice.

Sekibo commended Governor Fubara for prioritizing development, pointing to the commissioning of the Borikiri fire station as evidence of an administration focused on delivering essential infrastructure.

He urged Rivers people to remain calm despite their sentiments on the recent Supreme Court judgment, assuring them that the governor is committed to upholding the rule of law.
Governor Fubara, in his address, restated his administration’s commitment to ensuring public safety and delivering critical infrastructure.
He emphasized the importance of a well-equipped fire service, especially in the densely populated Borikiri area, to respond effectively to emergencies.

The newly commissioned Borikiri Fire Service Outstation is one of the three fire stations recently remodeled by the Rivers State government and the second to be inaugurated in three days.
Alongside the remodeled facility, newly acquired firefighting trucks were also unveiled.
The Commissioner for Special Duties, Sam Anya, noted that the government is focused on rebuilding key public institutions that had been neglected.
He assured residents that the new fire service infrastructure would enhance emergency response capabilities in the state.
