The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State has strongly condemned a ruling delivered by a Sharia court in Birnin Kebbi against its Publicity Secretary, Sani Dododo, describing it as politically motivated and an attempt to silence opposition voices.
The party made its position known during a press conference held at the PDP State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi, where it accused the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration of Governor Nasir Idris of using the judiciary as a tool for political persecution.

Addressing journalists, the Kebbi State PDP Chairman, Usman Suru, described the court’s ruling based on comments Dododo made during a public radio programme as unjust and a clear attempt to stifle dissent.
“Alhaji Sani Dododo, in his capacity as the official spokesperson of the PDP, spoke with the full authority and backing of our party. His remarks reflected the PDP’s collective position on what we consider reckless, extravagant, and rudderless governance under Governor Nasir Idris,” Suru stated.

He further alleged that key government institutions, including the judiciary, have been compromised to serve political interests, accusing Governor Idris of weaponizing the legal system against the opposition.
The PDP vowed to challenge the court’s ruling through legal means and reaffirmed its unwavering support for Dododo.
Suru emphasized that the party remains committed to defending the rights of Kebbi citizens and to holding the government accountable.

“This situation is not only unjust; it is undemocratic and outright dangerous,” he warned.
