They include five lawmakers from Enugu State, whose defection was witnessed by Governor Peter Mbah at the green chamber.
The defectors are Obetta Chidi, Anayo Onwuegbu, Dennis Agbo, Martins George, Nnaji Nnolim, and Daniel Asama from Plateau State, who moved from the Labour Party (LP).
The Enugu lawmakers’ defection came two weeks after Governor Mbah dumped the PDP for the APC.
During a state-wide broadcast to the people of the state, the governor defended his decision to switch camp, saying the move was important to connect the south-eastern state to the central government.
“There comes always a time when everyone must make a bold choice to determine their destiny.
Today, after a long reflection, we have made a decision to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress,” he stated.
In July seven members of the House from opposition parties in Akwa Ibom State joined Governor Umo Eno in the ruling APC.
The lawmakers from the PDP were Unyime Idem, Martins Esin, Paul Ekpo, Uduak Odudoh, Okpolu Etteha and Bassey Okon while Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo joined from the APC.
Similarly, in May, six members of the House from Delta State defected from the PDP to the APC.
