Wizkid and Asake have reunited to release ‘Jogodo’, the lead single from their upcoming joint EP, ‘REAL,’ Vol. 1.

The surprise drop on Friday has already set the tone for what promises to be one of 2026’s biggest Afrobeats collaborations.

The four-track EP is due on January 23.

The EP, produced under Starboy Entertainment Ltd., GIRAN Republic and EMPIRE, includes ‘Turbulence’, ‘Jogodo’, ‘Iskolodo’ and ‘Alaye’.

Wizkid, speaking about the collaboration, said, “Working on this record with Asake came naturally. We speak the same musical language.”

Asake added, “When Wizkid and I collaborate, it feels special because it’s coming from a real place of friendship, mutual respect, and love for our culture.”

Fans have long been waiting for a full project from the pair, following their Grammy-nominated hit ‘MMS’ from Asake’s 2024 album Lungu Boy, and other collaborations like ‘Bad Girl’ and ‘Getting Paid’.

Teasers for REAL, Vol. 1 began circulating in late 2025 during an Apple Music takeover.

Wizkid confirmed the EP details on Facebook, sharing the cover art as a symbol of their bond.

Asake described the project as “real people in one room. Genuine people, heart-to-heart conversation every time.”

Jogodo has already broken records. It debuted at number one on Spotify Nigeria with 1.388 million streams, a new national record for a collaborative release.

Globally, it entered Spotify at number 82 with 1.852 million streams, and it topped Nigeria’s Apple Music, YouTube, Audiomack and Deezer charts.

The track also entered the UK Apple Music Top 50 at number 49 and is charting in more than 30 countries.

The song has gained traction with minimal social media promotion. Fans have taken to platforms to praise the track, calling it a “collaboration of the year” and singling out Asake’s verse.

With Jogodo already topping charts and trending online, expectations for REAL, Vol. 1 are high, suggesting the EP could become one of Afrobeats’ defining projects of 2026.
