Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have apprehended a suspected kidnapper and rescued a victim in a foiled abduction in Isua-Akoko, the headquarters of the Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, the incident was reported on April 10 by a resident at the Isua Divisional Police Headquarters.
He informed the police that two young men had travelled to Ipesi-Akoko for cattle rearing, but one of them failed to return home.
Confirming the development in a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abayomi Jimoh, said the report prompted an immediate response.
“Acting on the report, the police immediately initiated a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation, which led to the successful rescue of the kidnapped victim,” he said.

Jimoh added that the victim recounted being abducted at night by three suspected kidnappers.
“During the incident, while trying to resist his captors, he inflicted a head injury on one of the suspects,” the police spokesperson stated.
He further disclosed that operatives of the Isua Division swiftly mobilised to Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua, where a suspicious individual with a visible head injury was arrested.
According to him, the suspect confessed to being a member of the kidnapping gang during interrogation.
“The victim later positively identified the suspect, particularly noting the injury inflicted on him,” Jimoh added.
He noted that the rescued victim has been taken to hospital for medical attention, while the suspect has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” he said.
Jimoh reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across Ondo State, urging residents to remain vigilant and provide timely and useful information to the police.
