The Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State Governor, Mr Godwin Adindu, says the government is doing all within its resources to ensure that the welfare of Abia workers are adequately taken care of.
Mr Adindu, however, hinted that the reason behind workers’ pending salaries could be due to bank processes.
Workers, who had not been paid salaries in the state yearned to resume work while those who received theirs, agreed the holiday was a well spent work free day and were excited to be back to work.
The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, had decided to place himself on half salary and cut his travelling allowances by 50% until the backlog of workers’ salaries and allowances owed are cleared.
Governor Ikpeazu promised to do everything to ensure that salaries and allowances of workers in the state are systematically cleared.
