The JAMB boss at the matriculation ceremony of the University of Ilorin noted that with the establishment of more universities by the federal government and well-meaning Nigerians, thousands of eligible students would have the opportunity of obtaining tertiary education in disciplines of their choice.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), last week approved the establishment of three new universities to be established in the northern part of the country.

The older universities he added could not accommodate the yearly huge number of applicants seeking admission and praised the efforts of the federal government in that regard.

The Vice-Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Professor Abdulganiyy Ambali had earlier  during the matriculation for the newly admitted students for 2012/2013 academic session painted a gloomy picture of how 43,000 students obtained the 200 marks score of the institution whereas only 7,000 could be offered admission due to lack of space.

He challenged the lucky few admitted for the new academic session to be serious with their studies and avoid acts that could make them to be expelled.
