One of the survivors of the coordinated attacks on Ukum and Logo local government areas by suspected herdsmen has died due to injuries from the attacks, as twelve more corpses have been recovered, bringing the casualty figures to seventy-two.
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, in a telephone conversation with Channels Television, said that with security forces making inroads into the affected communities and residents returning to access their homes, twelve corpses have been picked up, regrettably, one of the survivors died at the hospital
Worried by the rising number of persons killed, Governor Hyacinth Alia reiterated the urgent need for the Federal Government to step up security surveillance in Benue State to prevent the scale of attacks and killings across the state.

He also restated his call for information sharing on any intelligence that can help prevent attacks on the people, as security agencies may need the cooperation from communities to respond to threats.
Last Tuesday, suspected herdsmen attacked Otobi in Otukpo local government area, killing eleven persons in another coordinated attack.
This was after the attack on Benue Links Bus the previous week, leading to the killing of three persons and kidnapping of thirteen passengers.
