Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has stated that no official who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari has the moral right to criticize the administration of President Bola Tinubu over security issues, emphasizing that the challenges were inherited.
The governor made this statement during a special prayer held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the creation of Kebbi State on Wednesday.
Governor Idris noted that the security challenges predated the current administration, adding that whenever his state faces any crisis, the federal government has been quick to respond.
“When security issues arose in southern Kebbi, I contacted the Chief of Defence Staff and requested federal intervention. In response, the CDS deployed 10 armoured personnel carriers, which were distributed across the affected areas,” he said.
The governor also criticized some Abuja-based politicians of Kebbi origin for politicizing the government’s security efforts.

“Someone who had a major opportunity during the Buhari administration at a time when insecurity worsened in Kebbi is now in Abuja, accusing the current government of not doing enough, even claiming that over 200 people were killed. When he had the opportunity, what did he do?” Governor Idris queried.
“We will not tolerate playing politics with security,” he added.
Governor Idris further pledged continued financial support to security agencies to ensure the safety of the state. He remarked that some governors, discouraged by the high cost of supporting security operations, have withdrawn their efforts, allowing insecurity to spread into other states.
Commending security agencies for restoring peace, the governor said there are currently no internally displaced persons (IDP) camps in Kebbi State, as most affected residents have returned to their homes.
