The Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has decried the constant and increasing killing of security agents especially police officers, saying the practice is becoming worrisome.

Addressing the monthly meeting of Commissioners of Police and other senior police officers in Abuja, Mr Abubakar advised all officers to brace up in order to overcome the present security challenges.

This is coming, following the murder of a former deputy Inspector General of Police, Abubakar Saleh Ningi, in Kano, earlier in the week. Fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram has since claimed responsibility for the killing

Mr Ningi was shot dead along Sauna Kawagi road in Kano on Tuesday night, alongside two police aides attached to him

The police boss disclosed that policies have been put in place to reposition the force towards combating all forms of crimes and criminality.

He also warned the officers to be disciplined, dedicated and devoted to their duties and obey all electoral laws as it affects the police adding that no form of misconduct will be tolerated in the forthcoming Ondo and Edo state governorship elections.
