The River State Police Command has arrested a gang of armed robbers after they snatched a jeep from a Port Harcourt based women.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed this in a statement on Sunday.

According to the statement, the armed robbers were escaping with the vehicle and some cash when they ran into a stop and search point.

In an attempt to escape, they got engage in a gun battle and as a result, one of them was killed.

Another was arrested while the third member escaped, however, with gunshot wounds.

The vehicle was, however, recovered and has been returned to the owner.

Meanwhile, Omoni has assured residents of the command’s determination to clamp down on criminals.

Robbers Kill Policeman In Ekiti


A police officer has been shot dead in Ado, the Ekiti State capital while chasing some armed robbers.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, confirmed this to Channels Television on Thursday.

According to Ikechukwu, the armed men were said to have robbed a business outfit and while attempting to escape they were sighted and chased by the officer, who was driving in a white Hilux van.

The criminals, on the other hand, kept shooting at the vehicle and in the process, shot and killed the policeman after which they escaped.

Other officers later visited the scene to evacuate the corpse which was, thereafter, taken to the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH).

Police Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers In Ogun


The Police have arrested two suspected armed robbers in Ogun State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Public Relations Officer in the state, Csp Dolapo Badmos, said the suspects were arrested on December 31, 2018, while officers of the command were on patrol around Ogere Remo area.

According to the statement, the suspects were seen driving a Toyota Sienna vehicle and on flagging down the vehicle they attempted to escape but were eventually caught.

On searching the vehicle, a locally made gun with three live cartridges was recovered.

Upon interrogation, the two suspects confessed to have robbed residents of Akobo Area of Ibadan in Oyo State where they stole goods worth millions of Naira.

According to the Police, they further stated that part of their loots like phones, laptops and other gadgets had been sold in Oyo State while the Sienna vehicle was being taken to Lagos for a ready buyer.

The suspects who have been arrested in the past confessed to have formed a gang while serving their jail term in Agodi Prison, Ibadan.

They also revealed that their operational base is in Ibadan.

The Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer while briefing journalists said the operational strategy the command had put in place for the Yuletide season actually paid off and more criminals would be fished out.

Police Arrest Eight Suspected Trans Border Armed Robbers In Ogun

Eight suspected members of a group allegedly responsible for kidnapping and armed robbery operations were on Thursday arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Iliyasu while parading the suspects at the Headquarters of the Police Command in Abeokuta, the state capital said they were arrested through technical intelligence-driven investigation by men of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery (FSARS) squad in the state.

According to him, the eight members were allegedly responsible for many kidnapping and armed robbery operations in the south-west region.

Items recovered from the suspects include cars, one Ak-47, one pump action gun with 25 round of ammunition,15 live ammunition and two locally made pistols.

The police boss then assured residents of the state of the Command’s commitment to securing their lives and properties.

He also announced the commencement of the second phase of the arms and ammunition mop up in the state.

Armed Robbers Raid Two Banks, Kill 12 In Edo


Armed men on Thursday evening invaded Igarra, the headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State and killing about 12 persons in their bid to rob two commercial banks.

The robbers had earlier attacked the local police station where they shot and killed a policeman on duty with two detainees while also setting the only vehicle on sight a Toyota Hilux on fire.

They then proceeded to attack the banks.

The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident but said information about the attack was still sketchy.

At least four other persons were reportedly killed at the banks when the armed men could not gain access to the vaults of the banks.

A community leader who is the Palace Secretary to the paramount ruler or Otaru of Igarra, Elder Folorunsho Dania also confirmed the incident to reporters on the phone.

Robbers Attack Bank, Kill Police Officer In Ekiti        


Armed robbers on Thursday attacked a commercial bank in Ifaki Ekiti in Ido Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti state.

A police officer was killed during the robbery attack.

The State Police Commissioner, Abdullahi Chafe confirmed the attack to Channels Television.

He said efforts are on to track the perpetrators.

The Ekiti robbery attack comes barely two weeks after five commercial banks were robbed in Offa Kwara state when about 30 robbers hit the town destroyed properties and carted away millions of naira.

According to the police, about 30 people were killed in the attack while some suspects were later arrested.


Police Parade 16 Suspected Armed Robbers, Kidnappers

The Nigeria Police has arrested and paraded 16 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers terrorizing Abuja-Kaduna and Abuja-Suleja-Minna Highways.

A statement from the Force Public Relations Officers, CSP Jimoh Moshood on Tuesday said the gang members were arrested in the act of laying ambush to kidnap people plying the road after the yuletide.

Robbers Kill Three Policemen During Ondo Bank Robbery

Three officers of the Ondo State Police Command have been shot and killed by a gang of armed robbers who attacked a bank in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the robbery took place at about 3 pm today (Thursday).

According to an eyewitness, the heavily armed robbers stormed the bank in three vehicles and blew the bank’s doors with an explosive device.

A detachment of policemen to the bank were said to have engaged in a gun duel with the robbers but unfortunately, three of the officers died in the encounter.

The robbers later escaped with an unspecified amount of money.

The Ondo Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident, said the Commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeyanju, has already visited the scene.

He commiserated with the families of the slain officers, saying the command will release their identities after their families have been formally informed of the sad incident.

Joseph said that the command is on track of the robbers and appealed to the people to provide relevant information that will lead to their arrest.

He assured that that command is on top the security situation in the state stressing that the people should go about their lawful businesses without fear.

Ayade Offers 1million Naira For Information On Kidnappers

ben-ayadeThe Cross River State governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has imposed a new security law on kidnapping and armed robbery.

He announced 1million Naira for anyone who can offer information leading to the arrest of kidnappers and armed robbers in the state.

The new law became necessary following the high spate of kidnapping and other forms of Criminality experienced lately in some parts of the state metropolis.

The Executive Order, christened “Hafiz law”, according to Governor Ayade, stipulates that anybody who whistle blows on an armed robber or a kidnapper by intelligence or investigation that the armed robber or kidnapper is found to be true, that person is entitled to 1million Naira.

Ayade made this known at the Exco Chambers of the governor’s office when the new Commissioner of Police posted to the State, Hafiz Mohammed paid him a courtesy call.

The governor expressed his displeasure in a situation where suspected criminals arrested in time pasts on issues relating to armed robbery or kidnapping found their way back into the street without prosecution.

He assured the new police commissioner of his administration’s readiness to offer any institutional support to the police for effective policing of the State.

CP Inuwa, in his remarks disclosed that, he is ready to work with anybody who is willing to assist the police in ensuring that the state remains peaceful, while assuring the State Government of delivering effectively for the safety of lives and properties of residents.

Two Suspected Armed Robbers Killed In Kano

Two Suspected Armed Robbers Killed In KanoThe Kano State Police Command has confirmed the death of two suspected armed robbers while three others remain at large after a gun duel on Wednesday along Kano-Kaduna expressway.

Addressing a news conference, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Magaji Majia, told journalists that the suspects whose identities were not yet established, blocked the public highway with their car with Bayelsa state registration number YEN 242 SY.

DSP Majia further confirmed that no Police officer, resident or motorist around the area was affected during the exchange of fire.

“At about 00815hrs on Wednesday the 11th of January 2017, operatives attached to the IGP Special Tactical Squad Monitoring Unit and that of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on patrol between Zaria and Kwanar Dangora ran into armed robbery syndicates who blocked the public highway.

“On sighting the Police, they opened fire, the Police officers responded in self-defense which led to the death of two of them (suspects).

“Meanwhile we were told by the officers on sight that the suspects were up to five, therefore we are currently intensifying efforts to get those on the run,” he stated.

DSP Majia further explained that during an on-the-spot search “one AK47 rifle with 22 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, two AK47 magazines, cutlasses and assorted charms were all recovered from the suspects’ vehicle”.

“We are also aware that even the three who managed to escape had a gun wound,” he revealed, urging residents of Kano state to remain vigilant, especially around Kwanar Dan Goran axis in Kano-Kaduna expressway.

He asked that they report “any questionable movement or activities” to the nearest police station or any security check points or vehicles, as the Police are aware the suspects “are somewhere around those villages”.

He assured residents that there is no course for alarm as armed security operatives are on top of the situation.

Police Promise Osun Community Tighter Security After Robbers’ Threat

The Commissioner of Police in Osun State, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, has met the people of Kelebe communities, to sensitize them on the necessary moves required to scuttle the plans of the armed robbers who had threatened to strike in the community.

Mr Adeoye, who visited the communities along with the officers in charge of Criminal Investigation Department and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, the Osogbo Area Commander and the Police Public Relation Officer, assured the people of Kelebe communities of adequate security.

The CP also visited the palace of the traditional ruler of Kelebe, as well as the house of the Chairman of landlord’s association, where he discussed security tips with stakeholders in the communities and told them to always call the Police whenever they notice any suspicious movement.

Furthermore, he advised the traditional ruler and the chairman of the landlords association, to ensure that the bushes in the uncompleted buildings in the communities are cleared so that it would not serve as hideout for criminals.

“I am here today to make it clear to you people that the Police is always ready and alert to attend to all sensitive issues that relate to the security of the people of Osun state‎.

“We are well aware of the tension among the people of Kelebe now, but I want you to know that the Police is ready to ensure that lives are not lost and properties are well secured.

“The Police remain the friend of the people at all times. Please if you observe any suspicious move, just get in touch with the Police and we will get the person arrested.

“We are ever ready to serve you all the time. Your safety is paramount to us,” CP Fimihan emphasised.

While the people of the area commended the Commissioner of Police for his quick intervention, traditional ruler of Kelebe Community complained that the Otaefun Police Division was too far from Kelebe and demanded for a police post at Kelebe community.

A letter supposedly written by armed robbers was circulated in the area, two weeks before the CP’s visit, notifying the residents of the community about a proposed visit by the armed robbers.

The letter stirred up tension in the Kelebe communities as some of the residents had started relocating from the area because of the impending robbery attack.

Police Kill Six Armed Robbery Suspects In Rivers

Police kill armed robbers in RiversPolice have killed six suspected armed robbers in Ihuike axis in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State in southern Nigeria.

Confirming the killing, the Rivers State Police Command said the suspects were killed at about 8:45p.m. local time on Saturday.

An official of the command told reporters that the robbers were nabbed while they tried to make away with an 18 passenger bus.

He added that the suspects opened fire when they sighted a police van.

The driver of the bus was said to have lost control and the bus somersaulted while three of the passengers died.

The leader of the gang is one General Igbudu who the Police said had been responsible for the killings in Ahoada community in Rivers State, south-south Nigeria.

The Rivers State Police Command recovered over 37 arms and ammunition in the operation.
