The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed, has asked the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting of the ongoing Big Brother Nigeria Reality Show in South Africa.
In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister said the NBC should determine whether Multi-Choice, by shooting the show in South Africa, has breached the Nigerian Broadcasting Code in any way, as well as the issue of possible deceit, since the viewing public was never told that the event would be staged outside Nigeria.
”As a country of laws, only the outcome of the investigation will determine our next line of action,” he said.
While expressing concerns that Nigerians have bombarded his office with calls to complain about what they regard as an anomaly (of shooting outside the country a show meant for Nigerians), he requested that they should remain calm while the NBC investigates the issue and submits its findings.
A finalist of the Big Brother Africa Hotshots, Tayo Faniran, thinks the selection of Tanzanian contestant Idris as the winner of the 2014 edition was not right.
He told Ebuka on ‘Rubbin’ Minds’ on Sunday that he could not see any outstanding moment or performance of Idris in the highlights of the the programme that he reviewed some days ago.
“I saw my highlights and I was entertained but when I was watching that of Idris, I was waiting for that punchline but I did not see anything.
“When it was announced that he was the winner, I was shocked,” he said.
The BBA finalist denied claims that he cried when he lost out.
Faniran, however, said he was content because people considered him the winner and that he felt good about it.
Asked how he thinks Idris would feel with his comments about his selection, he said: “It is not supposed to be my own problem how he feels. I have the right to my own opinion. I wish him all the best and I hope he will use the money well”.
Namibian, Dillish on Sunday night won the coveted $300,000 star prize on Big Brother Africa.
It was a beautiful event as all the previously evicted housemates came back to celebrate with the winner.
After 90 days of staying in the Big Brother house, the top five; Elikem, Melvin, Cleo, Beverly and Dillish donned in their beautiful attires anxiously awaited the final results.
First to be evicted of the five was Beverly, who proudly walked out of the house into the cheering crowd and was greeted with a hug and kiss from Angelo. Next came Melvin who obviously wasn’t happy to have not gotten the money but bravely put on a smile to meet the crowd.
The eviction of the two Nigerians from the house on the Grande finale caused a stir among Nigerians who concluded that keeping Melvin and Beverly in the house was a tactic to keep the Nigerian audience.
Elikem was evicted after this, but he won a $10,000 expense paid trip by Big Brother to Kenya with a partner of his choice, he picked Pokello who he already started an affair with during their stay in the house.
Finally, Dillish and Cleo were left in the house, the two hotties beat their male and female counterparts, Elikem and Melvin to the Top 2, as well as their close friend Beverly.
When the last person, Cleo, was evicted, the Namibian broke down in a heap of tears at the realization that she had won a cool $300, 000.

The Housemates in the Big Brother Africa stargame show on Tuesday were pleasantly surprised when 2face paid an unscheduled visit to them via the Television monitor in the House. The Housemates were strategizing how to go about the task of building their own vegetable garden as part of the ONE campaign following step-by-step instructions.
ONE is a grassroots advocacy and campaigning organization that fights extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa, by raising public awareness and pressuring political leaders to support smart and effective policies and programs that are saving lives, helping to put kids in school and improving futures.
Just as the Housemates were digesting the information of their impending Task, 2face appeared on the giant screen in the lounge and encouraged them to soldier on.
“My brothers and sisters, we are united in the belief that Africa can stop the vicious cycle of poverty and hunger once and for all,” 2face said. The ace singer told the Housemates that the task of building their own vegetable garden is not just to test their will power but to give them “a taste of what millions go through every single day.”
2face said “No one in Africa should go hungry, not in 2012; not in the continent as rich as Africa. Housemates, you are the future. Stay strong. Stay committed. Stay hungry for change.”
One of Big Brother’s most loved couple Junia and Malonza are no more in the House. They were the latest to bid farewell at the Stargame last night.
When it was time for the eviction, IK, the presenter, scared the 6 housemates that were put up for eviction, by calling out their names with so much sympathy.
Prezzo who was the first to be metioned showed so much fret in him, but fortunately for him he was saved by his fans.
Malonza whose name was also mentioned appeared not to be bothered, instead his girlfriend Junia broke down into tears.
When being asked by the presenter (IK) if the relationship was going to continue even after he leaves BBA, Malonza said “Anything that continues from here will be a plus but all I know is that Junia is a special friend.
He added that “what brought me joy at the Big Brother was the fact that I found Junia.”
When the time for the second eviction came, Goldie was so nervous that Prezzo (the evicted) had to pat her at the back but he got lucky.
Well, when it was time to depart the house, Junia smiled while hugging others and whispered “At least am leaving with him.”
It is clear that these two have genuine feelings for each other and they now finally have a chance to see if their love is for real.
