EPL: Arsenal, Tottenham Reveal Team Preparation

EPLArsene Wenger has revealed the latest team news ahead of Wednesday night’s home English Premier League (EPL) match against Swansea City.

The Arsenal manager said on the club’s website that he does not think they have any problems from Sunday apart from one or two who have muscular tightness.

He said that apart from that, everyone would be available on the field of play.

The Frenchman also disclosed that Oxlade-Chamberlain would be out for six to eight weeks.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur manager, Mauricio Pochettino, says his side are not feeling pressure as the EPL title run-in gathers pace.

Pochettino dismissed the notion that his side are the favourites to win the league.

Second-placed Tottenham, who are chasing their first league title since 1961 will take on West Ham United on Wednesday night.

Cech Says Arsenal Can Still Win Premier League

arsenalArsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech believes the gunners still have the chance to win the Premier League if they keep working.

Cech spoke to the media after Arsenal were beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

On the disappointment of losing the match, he said, “Man United away is a big game. They fight to have a chance to enter the top four, so we knew it was going to be a difficult game. In a game like this, you can make mistakes and we were punished for them.

“Every time we made a mistake at the back, they (profited). The third goal was a lucky bounce for them and I thought it was decisive, because if we could have come back to 2-2 in the second half, we would have had a chance to win the game. At 3-1 down, you try to get one back as soon as possible, which we managed to do. But we didn’t create enough to score in the last 10 minutes.

“We still have a chance, so we will go for it until the last minute. This was a big disappointment for us and is a step back after last week, where we managed to overcome a deficit against Leicester at home. This is a step back but we need to keep working.

Cech also gave some credit to Manchester United’s young squad.

“I think it was a perfect game for them. They had nothing to lose and had a very good win in midweek, so everyone was ready for the game. We knew it was going to be difficult but, as I said, no matter what opposition you play against, if you make mistakes, you’re going to be punished.”

He admitted that the loss was a step back but they can still make up for this. “We have two important games coming up this week and if we manage to win both, the table might look better again,” he said.

Premier League: Manchester United Beat Arsenal 3-2

United -LeagueManchester United teenager, Marcus Rashford, on Sunday scored a brace, as the Red Devils beat Arsenal in the English Premier League title challenge.

Rashford, who scored twice on his debut in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, steered in a loose ball for the opener then headed in three minutes later. His goals were enough to earn him the man of the match.

Ex-united striker, Danny Welbeck nodded Arsenal back into the game, but Ander Herrera curled in Rashford’s lay-off.

Mesut Ozil’s volley gave third-placed Arsenal hope, but United held on.

Also, Tottenham moved back to within two points of League leaders, Leicester City, after battling back from behind to beat Swansea City.

Arsenal-Leicester: Wenger Says Both Teams Under Pressure

wengerArsène Wenger says his side cannot wait for Sunday’s top-of-the-table fixture against Leicester City because it is the kind of game they relish.

Arsenal have taken 10 points from four matches against the other sides in the top five so far this season, and won 5-2 at King Power Stadium back in September.

The Foxes have lost only one Premier League match since and go into Sunday’s match five points clear at the top, but Wenger believes his side will rise to the challenge.

“What is important is to find the momentum back and that means that you win a few games,” the boss said. “After, let’s not count too much on the weakness of Leicester because they have not shown too many.

“We want to find a consistency in our results until the end of the season, because we have big game after big game now.

“What I believe is that you do not have to be a super mathematician to analyse that it is a very important game, maybe not a decisive one for the Premier League but it is not far away from that.

“The pressure is on us as well, of course. I don’t deny that but I take that in a very positive way and as an opportunity to show how strong we are.

“I think the biggest pressure in our job is to play games without pressure. This is the kind of game we want – the kind of game we relish. When you play at Arsenal Football Club, that’s what you want.

“(Leicester) are still in a position where they think they have nothing to lose. But once you are top of the league, you can also think about losing what you have.

“That is where the nerves come in a little bit. I do not know how they will respond to that.”

EPL Results: Leicester City Beat Manchester City 3-1

leicesterEnglish Premier League leaders Leicester City’s title challenge have reached unprecedented heights as they went six points clear at the top after beating Manchester City 3-1.

It was Manchester City’s first defeat in seven Premier League games as frailties in their back-line were once again miserably exposed this time by the scintillating Foxes attack.

Robert Huth turned in Riyad Mahrez’s corner to give the Foxes an early lead.

Mahrez made it 2-0 with a step-over and finish, and Huth found space to head home a Christian Fuchs corner before Sergio Aguero’s late consolation.

Riyad Mahrez ended a personal goal drought and was the first player this season to achieve a significant goals mark.

It was also the second time in his Barclays Premier League career that Huth has scored more than once in a match, last scoring a brace in February 2011 for Stoke against Sunderland.

Sergio Aguero’s late consolation for Man City was his first Barclays Premier League goal against Leicester and as a result the striker has scored against 26 of the 28 different opponents he has faced in the competition (Bolton and Burnley are the exceptions).

The defeat was Man City’s third at home this season as they continued their run of failing to beat any opponent in the top six in 2015/16.

Olivier Giroud Returns For Arsenal, Fit For Manchester United Clash

GiroudArsenal striker, Olivier Giroud, has recovered from a broken leg, one month ahead of schedule.

Arsenal Manager, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed that the 28-year-old French international striker is fit to face Manchester United on Saturday.

Giroud suffered a broken foot during a 2-2 draw away at Everton on August 23 and has been out of action since then.

Wenger was expecting to welcome Giroud back in January at the earliest, but the Gunners’ top scorer from last season has made a speedy recovery.

“Giroud and Arteta are both available. It’s just a question of how ready they are. But they are available,” he told reporters.

“He is three or four weeks ahead of schedule. Originally we planned to have him back for competition at the beginning of next year. So he’s one month ahead.”

Giroud’s return eases the burden on English striker, Danny Welbeck and Chilean forward, Alexis Sanchez who has beenArsenal sensational since joining from Barcelona in the summer with 12 goals in 17 games.

Giroud started off the season in good form too, scoring twice in his opening four games before breaking his leg.

The Arsenal’s boss, however, confirmed that defenders, Matheiu Debuchy and Laurent Koscielny are both out on the training ground but still a month or so away from being available for games.

“Koscielny and Debuchy are doing well, they are out on the field again.

“We have to see now. Usually field work is three weeks away from full group training. Then there is fitness.

“It looks straightforward for Debuchy. It’s not inflammation, it’s just repairing surgery. For Koscielny, it depends how well he responds to training.

“At the moment he looks good. Ozil is doing well but he will not be ready before the start of 2015,” Wenger said.

The Gunners take on Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as they aim to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat to Swansea City in their last game.

Anichebe on call as Everton beat Swansea City 3-0

Nigeria and Everton striker ensured his name was included on the scoreboard against Swansea City as he banged his second goal of the season in the English Premiership.

Manager David Moyes who was so excited with the young lad said he never regretted compensating the lanky Nigerian with a spot in the starting line-up after Monday’s game, where Everton drew 2-2 with Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Monday as Anichebe’s supposed second goal was disallowed, but above all the Nigerian striker put up an impressive display.

Anichebe was on point in the 22nd minute as he put Everton in front, thanks to a Marouane Fellaini’s chest control inside the box, shoving the ball across for Anichebe to bury into the net of Swansea City as Everton took a deserved lead.

Moyes commented that Everton would have had more goals after he expressed his being pleased with the performance of the Toffees on-filed saying their performance was extremely fabulous today for he saw everyone put in their best.
