It was an interesting first day at the kick-off of the Channels National Kids Cup as a total of 49 goals were scored in six matches.
First timers, School Road Primary School from Abia State secured the first win of the competition, defeating Lagos State representative Toyibat Nursery and Primary School 4 – 3.
In a spectacular display of resilience, pupils from Uguomili Primary School, Anambra State defeated Effortswill Primary School from Lagos by 8-0 with an incomplete team of seven player.
Uguomili Primary School was however disqualified from the tournament after it was discovered that the school fielded overaged players.
Meanwhile, Ago Egba Primary School also from Lagos defeated Christ The King from Akwa Ibom 2-1.
Holy Trinity Primary School had a 2- 1 victory over Unity Model College from Oyo State while IBB Primary School from Niger State lost 1-2 to Local Authority from Osun State .
Ogedegbe Primary School from Delta State defeated Harding Primary School Ekiti State 2-1.
The annual tournament which is organised by Channels Television and supported by the Lagos State Football Association, the Delta State Government and Indomie Noodles will have its final played on Monday the 27th of May 2013.
