Addressing reporters in Ado Ekiti, on Monday, the Governor said that he was on his way to Abuja to see President Goodluck Jonathan and the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar so the matter could be addressed.

He, however, advised the members of the party to remain calm and embrace peace in the state.

On Sunday morning, members of the APC led by some of their leaders including the Governor, Kayode Fayemi, were out on some form of campaign ahead of the June 21 governorship election when they were allegedly attacked. One person was killed in the attack.

“If the agenda is to intimidate our people to make them not to vote, then they have failed because our people are still on the street,” he said.

Residents say they heard gun shots, but details on the cause of the violence are still sketchy.

According to reports, Governor Fayemi’s convoy was attacked, with tear gas canisters fired at him while his security aide was brutally attacked.

The State government has called for the immediate transfer of the Commissioner of Police Ekiti State Command, Felix Uyanna and the O.C MOPOL.

The chairman of the APC in Ekiti State, Jide Awe, told reporters  that for the interest of peace in the forthcoming governorship election, the president must intervene fast.

However, normalcy has returned to the troubled area while anti riot Police and other security agencies are patrolling the ado metropolis.
