The announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the collection of permanent voters cards in Kwara state seems not to take off yet as most of the polling centres and wards are empty.

While some of the eligible voters complained of the absense of INEC officials  to issue the PVCs, the INEC REC in the state says they are waiting for directives from the headquarters to commence the distribution at the ward levels but directed people to collect at the Local Government Headquarters.

Reacting, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Doctor Emmanuel Onucheyo noted that the cards are being distributed at the headquarters of the local governments adding that seventy one percent of the cards have been distributed so far.

He stressed that they are only waiting for directives from the National Headquarters before commencing the distribution at the ward and polling unit centres.

INEC is expected to speed up the collection of the cards before the elections.
