DikwaThe Dikwa township in Borno State, northeast Nigeria has been recaptured and that is according to the Army in the state.

Spokesperson for the 7th Division, Colonel Tukur Gusau, told a news conference that the Army engaged the bandits in a fire exchange, in the ongoing military offensive, and Dikwa has finally been liberated.

Combined efforts of the Nigerian Air Force alpha jet and surveillance aircraft paved the way for the Army to move in and occupy the community.

The Nigerian soldiers also recovered caches of ammunition, in addition to killing some of the Boko Haram insurgents.

“Our troops killed at least 20 Islamist terrorists during a fierce battle with them. We succeeded in recapturing Dikwa town from them.

“I can tell that our troops are in control of Dikwa and beyond. Boko Haram fighters are not in control of any of our territory, and the operations continue.” Colonel Gusau said.
