Veteran Nigerian actor Chief James Akwari Iroha has been confirmed dead at the age of 69.

Known for his part in the popular 80s Nigerian television show “New Masquerade”, where he created the role of Gringory, Iroha was said to have suffered an eye ailment in the years before his death.

On his facebook fan page, a message to his fans read:

“Not long ago a man we have all come to love, a man that has made us laugh, a friend to all but will always be Dad to my little sister Ugonma, my brothers Chiemela, Uche, Kelechi and me passed on.”

He is third member of the popular comedic soap to have passed on.

Christy Essien Igbokwe, who played the role of Apena and Claude Ake known as Jegede Sokoya have also passed on.

James Iroha was only months away from his 70th birthday.
