Civil Defence Commandant Can’t Tell His Organisation’s Web Address

The Lagos State Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) Obafaiye Shem has said that he has never visited his organisation’s website.

Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Shem said the website opened by impostors to defraud unsuspecting job seekers would be automatically closed.

Asked to mention the NSCDC’s web address, Mr Shem said “I cannot categorically tell you one now.” Probed further to name the organisation’s website, the commandant said the address is: www.nscdc.

A Channels Television’s reporter checked the web address and noticed that it was incorrect. Further search on the internet showed that the correct web address for the Civil Defence Corp is www.nscdc.gov.ng

    i wept for my belove country nigeria. A country that promotes mediocres and demote
    excellence. this man is only qualify to be a cleaner in the agency. not to talk of being
    a commandant. to the extent he was posted to a mega state in nigeria.this show clearly
    how this nation is been  managed. i bet you in a short period of time  he will be promoted to
    commandant general, because we are in a banana republic. He doesnt even know the website of
    his agency. he said is http://www.nscdc. with this answer this shows clearly that he is not computer literate.
    still he is a commandant of a security agency in nigeria.
    this man should be sacked with immediate effect for gross incomputence.

          And you are quite rude and mannerless. I am not excusing anybody, I am saying let the punishment fit the crime. How can someone say ‘he should be sacked for gross incomputence’ (whatever that means) because he is obviously and painfully unaware of what a website even is. The man is not computer-literate but is this only his fault or the fault of the useless organisation he works for which hasn’t trained him to use computers (especially as top management) or made everyone in the organisation aware of what their website is. How many public parastatals have maintained and functional websites? If nothing else this well serve as a wake up call to all public servants and thier ogas at the top, that the World has changed and we live in the Information Age and they must conform to this or face public ridicule and scorn. But sacking him is NOT the right response.

          It is actually your kind that is spoiling the nation with moronic knee-jerk reactions to the symptoms, instead of addressing the root cause of the sickness.

    This Commandant is not qualified in any way to be in that position,i even wonder if he knows how to power ON a lap top….i heard him when he said they have many Website and is hes oga’s @Abj that will say the 1dey will use for recruitment….can u imagine this being the no1 person of NSCDC in this Mega city of Lagos? PLEASE HE SHOULD BE RETIRED RIGHT AWAY LET HIM GO AND FARM IN HIS VILLAGE.
