The deal, which is for an initial period of 2015-2019, is expected to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria’s top flight league.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission (NSC), Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi on Monday reaffirmed the commitment of the federal government to develop the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Speaking in Abuja while receiving the report of the league management committee presented by its chairman, Mr. Nduka Irabor, the minister applauded the committee for their effort in securing a $34 million deal to Nigerian football.

Abdullahi who advised football club proprietors to show more commitment in order to improve the standard of the game however warned referees and club administrators to desist from fixing matches saying it is a criminal act and anyone caught will be handed over to the independent corrupt practices commission.
