The 36 Governors of the Federation have insisted that the President must not rescind its decision on the removal of subsidy on petrol.

Speaking to State House correspondents after their meeting with the President which held in the Presidential Villa late yesterday, the Chairman of the Governors’ Forum Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state said that as far as fuel subsidy is concerned the government will not reverse its decision to withdraw it.

He called on Nigerians to see their sufferings now as the sacrifice they have to pay to ensure that the oil industry is fully deregulated so that government can save money for other development purposes.

The Governors said that Nigerians should rather monitor what the government wants to do with the money instead of going on the streets to demonstrate.

The Governors called on the Nigeria Labour Congress to obey the court order restraining them from carrying out the threat to go on protest, encouraging labour to go on a dialogue with the government because strike will cause more hardship for the masses.
