The Ogun state government is stepping up efforts towards strengthening health care delivery in the state as it has procured four Advance Life Support Ambulances.

This disclosure was made by the state Commissioner for Health Mr. Olaokun Soyinka at a stakeholders’ forum held at the Oba’s Complex in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The Commissioner said this was in line with the United Nations goal of reducing morbidities and mortalities from road crashes.

Giving an overview of the strategic planning for the state ambulance services, the Special Assistant to the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sade Adebanjo stressed that adequate manpower has been trained to adequately respond to emergencies.

According to Dr Adebanjo, emergency preparedness and disaster response committee and sustainable emergency financing scheme has been established for prompt treatment of victims of road crashes.

The Commissioner for Health, called for attitudinal change and support from road users and other stakeholders.

He also promised the state government’s readiness to upgrade the state owned Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) to world standard and to adequately respond to emergencies.
