According to the governor who was a guest on our breakfast show Sunrise Daily, today, “the drains and gutters seen around the metropolis are not the kind that can evacuate stormy waters.”
“The infrastructure provided by the state government for that purpose (drainage) are usually overstretched when the intensity of rainfall increases in a short period of time” adding that the increased rainfall is a result of unusual weather.”
Governor Fashola was however quick to add that the kind of flooding seen in Lagos and other parts of the country is not peculiar to Nigeria.
