The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 7,000 personnel to Ondo state to ensure smooth, free and fair process in the governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday, the 20th of October.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ade Abolurin said the officers who were drawn from the neighbouring states were carefully drafted for this election to ensure that all necessary security apparatus of the corps are put into action before, during and after the election.

He said they are available to ensure that all previous experiences of kidnapping of candidates, INEC officials and electoral materials, snatching of ballot boxes and other electoral vices would not reoccur this time round.

While urging indigenes to peaceful and calm during the process, Dr. Abolurin said his officers will be deployed to sensitive areas of possible contention such as polling booth, collation centers, INEC state offices and annexes, vital transport routes and routes of all returning officers from their collection centers and other potential hotspots.
