It is two days to the commencement of the African Nation’s Cup and the new FIFA ranking released on Thursday has the Super Eagles retaining the position of the 9th best team in Africa and 52nd in the world.

Cote d ‘Ivoire remained Africa’s best team while retaining the 14th spot globally.

Algeria dropped three places to the 22nd spot but remained Africa’s second best playing team. Mali and the Black Stars of Ghana occupied the third and the fourth spots.

Super Eagles Group mate for the Nation’s Cup, the Chipolopolo of Zambia dropped five places in the latest ranking but remain the 5th best in the continent.

Libya, Gabon, Central African Republic and Tunisia completed Africa’s top ten.

Meanwhile, there were no changes in the world’s top ten. Spain, Germany, Argentina, Italy, Colombia, England, Portugal, The Netherlands, Russia and Croatia retained their places respectively.

FEC’s   prayer

Meanwhile the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in its weekly council meeting on Wednesday, prayed for the success of the Super Eagles in the 2013 Africa Nations Cup which will kick off in South Africa on January the 19th.

Briefing state  house correspondents in Abuja, the Minister of Sports, Mr Bolaji Abdulahi said that the Super Eagles are raring to go and will need the support of all Nigerians.
