About 200 drums of “stolen”diesel have been destroyed by the the General Officer Commanding 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General Olaniyi Adebayo in Odukpani Local Government Area of the State.
Items destroyed are 200drums of diesel which was impounded by the Joint Tax Force, Operation Pulo Shield, in Calabar, One truck load of diesel, six generating sets, one J-5 bus and several houses raided which served as hideouts, and focal point for the illegal trade.
Speaking to Journalists after the destruction, the Adebayo described bunkering as a sabotage to the nation’s economy, which the Nigerian Army will not condone.
According to him “the Command will assist the Federal Government in its quest to achieving Zero bunkering rate in the country, also seeking the cooperation of the civil society in bringing the culprits to book”.
This, he reiterated, is to fast tract development, and boost the Nation’s economy as the products destroyed runs into millions of naira.
He further directed that the burnt truck be completely damaged by, cutting it into pieces to ensure that it cannot be used again.
