The crisis rocking the Peoples’ Democratic Party appears to be deepening by the day as a Federal High Court in Abuja has been asked to declare the special convention of the party held on the 31st of august, 2013 as illegal and unconstitutional.

In an originating summons filed by Mr Ikenga Ugochinyere against the national executive and National Working Committees of the party in Abuja, the plaintiff is asking the court to order the national chairman of the party, Mr Bamanga Tukur to step down as he is not qualified to hold the office.

The plaintiff is also praying the court to restrain the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising officers elected at the special national convention pending the determination of the suit.

No date has been fixed for hearing.
