The Nasarawa State Government has made good its promise to rebuild the Assakio community.
The Governor, Tanko Al-Makura has donated building materials worth 45 million Naira for the project.
While making the donation, Governor Al-Makura promised adequate security for Assakio town to prevent a recurrence of the violent attack by suspected members of the Ombatse group.
“I want to assure you on my own honour that this administration will never, I repeat, never allow the people of Assakio to be exposed to any danger,” Governor Al-Makura promised.
The Governor delivered 5 trailers of cement which is equivalent to 3,000 bags, 500 bundles of iron sheet, and 2,000 bags of zinc nails to the community. He promised that the items would be distributed according to households, and government would look critically at the way and manner the materials would be distributed.
Residents of Assakio community in Nasarawa state have sought shelter in other communities in the wake of the violence allegedly perpetrated by members of the Ombatse militia group.
The state has experienced several cases of violent attacks in recent times, which has led to the loss of many lives and properties.
