The Independent National Electoral Commission has started counting the votes cast after voting ended in the 21 local government areas of Anambra State during the governorship election held on Saturday.

There were complaints of late arrival of voting materials in some places.

Our correspondent, Seun Okinbaloye, reports that the election was conducted under a peaceful atmosphere. He further said that voters remained at the polling units to ensure that their votes count.

He also reports that some voter’s names were absent on the register.

There are 21 local governments in the Anambra State, with 326 registration centres, 4, 608 polling units and 1, 784, 536 registered voters.
