President Goodluck Jonathan has returned to the country from London where he attended a part of the Honorary International Investor Council (HIIC) meeting. The president missed the opening of the meeting due recommendations by “competent medical practitioners” to “rest for a few days”.

After the rest, President Jonathan made an appearance at the 15th meeting of the HIIC, speaking about the opportunities and potentials in Nigeria.

Jonathan was confirmed to have taken ill shortly after arriving in the UK by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati.

The president upon arrival said he had fully recovered from his ailment and will resume work immediately.

The president, who was speaking at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport on arrival from official assignment in the United Kingdom,  told State House Correspondents  that he was  grateful to Nigerians for the love showed to him following his birthday and the health challenges he had while attending the HIIC meeting in London.

The president said that as a  political office holder he was not surprised at the criticisms that trailed his health challenges. He however said that the meeting with the G7, which was scheduled to hold tonight (Sunday), will be rescheduled . He debunked the  misconception that some ministers were absent from the Honorary International Investors Forum, saying that the event was not compulsory for the ministers to seat through the forum.

The secretary to the Government of the Federation, the inspector general of police, the ministers of police affairs, Labour, FCT, Health, Minister for Culture and that of the Niger Delta  affairs and the Minister of that of Foreign Affairs.
