The management of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo in Imo state has debunked the rumour making the rounds in the state that students from the institution have been banned from participating in the one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.

Clarifying the issue, Rector of the institution, Rev Fr. Wence Madu attributed the incident to failure on the part of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) who did not send the school’s list with the newly accredited courses to NYSC early enough to be captured into the database.

Reacting to the decampment of over 100 srudents from the 2013 Batch C NYSC orientation camp, he maintained that both NBTE and NYSC have since reconciled the differences and the school has gone ahead to mobilise the affected students along with the forth coming batch A of 2014.

The Rector urged his students and all stakeholders to disregard the rumours as NYSC has never banned his students and that there is no accreditation problems affecting the school as peddled by some quarters.
