maceEdo State House of Assembly has obtained restraining injunction against the four suspended lawmakers from entering the Assembly premises.

The injunction was obtained on Wednesday, a day after the four suspended lawmakers and five others allegedly broke through the entrance of the chambers, moved and adopted a motion for the suspension of the Speaker,Uyi Igbe, the Majority Leader, Philip Shaibu, and six others.

Following the counter suspension of Tuesday, a confrontation ensued between security agencies and some thugs, who tried to gain entry into the Assembly Complex.

This forced security agents to fire tear gas canister, amid sporadic shooting in the air to disperse the crowd.

Earlier on Monday, the four lawmakers were suspended on allegations of gross misconduct.

Three of them are those who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the fourth suspended lawmaker is the Deputy Speaker of the House who is a member of the APC.

The House had resumed from its recess on Monday morning and under matters of urgent public importance, raised a motion for the suspension of the lawmakers.

The Majority Leader of the House, Philip Shaibu, said that the lawmakers were suspended for trying to induce with 50 million  Naira each to impeach Governor Adams Oshiomhole and the Speaker Uyi Igbe.

He maintained that the House acted according to its rules.
