Kaduna Police Arrest Fake ASP

The Kaduna State Police Command has  arrested a 39-year old man, Ayodele Adegoke, who paraded himself as an Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP).

The suspect, who is an indigene of Ondo state and a father of three children, was arrested by the police on his way to Zaria City to  sell bags of Indian hemp.

During the interrogation, Ayodele said the police uniform which belonged to his late brother, who was an officer in the Nigerian Police Force, was used to operate his illicit  Indian hemp business, which he started four months ago.

Also paraded, was a three man  syndicate that specialises in printing and circulation of fake Nigerian currencies of different denominations.

One of them, Sani Abubakar,  went to a brothel in the state capital on July 30 and used  fake currency to settle a lady whom he had an affair with. Upon noticing that the money was fake, the lady raised an alarm which attracted the presence of police in the area .

Abubakar’s confession led to the arrest of two other members of the syndicate and recovery of equipment used to perpetrate the act.

Items recovered from them include a printer, a laptop, fake 500 Naira notes and other materials used in printing the fake Naira  notes.

Kaduna State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Adenaike,  told journalists that part of the fake currencies were already in circulation and that all the suspects would soon be charged to court.

He further disclosed that the command has arrested 65 armed robbery suspects,  recovered 37 sophisticated arms, and 21 exotic cars. He also reiterated the continued commitment of the command in the fight against criminals throughout the state, warning that they would not leave any stone unturned in ensuring safety of lives and property of the citizens.
