PDPA former Commissioner, Salihu Sagir Takai, during governor Ibrahim Shekarau’s administration has won the PDP gubernatorial primary elections in Kano State, North West Nigeria.

Mr Takai scored a total of 1226 votes out of 1452 cast to defeat three other candidates.

Mr. Takai, who was the gubernatorial candidate of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) in 2011, worked as Commissioner for Water Resources and Local Government, during the tenure of Mr. Ibrahim Shekarau.

He cross carpeted with Mr Shekarau to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2013.

Mr. Takai commended all the Kano delegates for giving him the maximum support and promised to replicate what Mr. Shekarau did during his tenure in the state.

Three other Candidates, Abba Murtala, Bello Gwarzo, and Mansur Ahmed all accepted defeat in good faith and promised to support Takai in his political campaign.
