MimikoThe Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has restated his administration’s plan to improve infrastructural development in all state-owned educational institutions in the state.

The Governor said this at the official commissioning of the newly built Senate Building at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

“We have done everything possible to rekindle the hope of the younger generation of a government that is committed to service delivery, and that, perhaps, is responsible for the fact that the regime of fees in all our state-owned tertiary institutions is no doubt one of the cheapest in Nigeria.

“We have deliberately democratised access to education based on our conviction that if education is meant for just a few, the consequences of not enabling a part of the society to be enlightened would be disastrous for all and sundry,” Governor Mimiko said.

The newly completed five-storey structure comes with a large senate chamber, a council chamber, 2 conference rooms, 10 board rooms, 148 offices, and a spacious parking lot among other facilities.

The outgoing Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Femi Mimiko, described the building as one of the best Senate buildings globally.

Top government functionaries, guests and members of the university community were present to witness the ceremony.
