Nasarawa The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has received leaders of over 2,000 decamped members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into its fold.

Leading the PDP decampees was a former aspirant in the just concluded Nasarawa PDP governorship primary, Senator John Danboyi, among other top PDP members in Akwanga Local Government.

The purpose of the PDP decampees, who are mostly from the Mada tribe, was to support the decision of the Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-makura, who has picked one of their kinsmen as his running mate, in spite the political impasse with his deputy who is also a Mada.

This was according to the leader of the PDP decampees, Senator Danboyi, who gave their reasons for leaving the PDP.

Satisfied with their reception into the APC, Senator Danboyi apologized to the Governor for the betrayal of their son, but thanked him for choosing yet another Mada son, Mr Silas Agara, as his running mate.

The Nasarawa Governor was received by the decamping PDP leaders in a rousing ovation as he made way into the hall to meet with them and express happiness for their jumping ship.

The elated Governor, while receiving the PDP decampees into the APC, promised a grand reception for them with the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari in attendance on January 17 in Lafia.
