The All Progressive Congress (APC) campaign committee for this year’s general elections in Kwara State has been inaugurated, with a task to ensure total victory for the party in all categories of the general elections in the state.
Inaugurating the campaign council at the mandate office of the party, the Leader of the party in the state and the Senator representing Kwara central in the senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, enjoined the campaign council headed by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Razak Atunwa, to swing into action immediately with a view to ensuring that every member of the party was carried along in the task of ensuring that the party in the state consolidated on its performance in the forthcoming polls.
Senator Saraki explained that all the members of the campaign council were carefully chosen, with their track records in mind and expressed confidence that the campaign council would justify the confidence reposed in them.
He urged the campaign council tagged ”Mandate 2015” to monitor the progress and identify the challenges of the party right from the polling unit to the state level with a view to addressing them promptly.
Senator Saraki, who said he left the People’s Democratic Party due to impunity and injustice against Kwara State by the Jonathan led administration, called on the people of the state to be part of the wind of change at the national level to make Kwara State be in the mainstream of the nation’s politics to fast track socio_ economic transformation of the state.
In his remark, the State governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, who spoke in Yoruba, expressed confidence that the party in the state had the winning structure. He assured supporters that his government would continue to be responsive to the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state through provision of basic infrastructure.
The Governor urged members of the party to compliment the effort of the campaign committee by serving as canvassers and protect their votes through monitoring of the counting and coalition of results to avoid manipulation by the opposing political party.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the APC in the state, Ishola Balogun Fulani, assured the APC supporters that the party would join hands with the mandate campaign committee to enable the party consolidate on its performance in the forth coming poll.
Responding on behalf of the 16-member campaign committee, Mr Atunwa praised the hierarchy of the party in the state for the confidence reposed in them and promised to perform beyond expectation.
Atunwa assured the gathering that his mandate campaign office would be accessible to other members of the party to accommodate their complaints and suggestions with a view to making the party victorious in the next month general elections.
The speaker observed that some notable Nigerians had sacrificed their lives towards restoring the country on the path of democracy and called on Nigerians to vote wisely in order to effect the much anticipated change to move the country forward.
