OC said that much while praising the creativity of his Hollywood counterpart, David, at the premiere of the Martin Luther King Jr biopic, Selma, in Lagos.

In a chat with Channels Television’s Entertainment Correspondent, Mayowa Ogundele, OC Ukeje said:

“David Oyelowo is phenomenal and I’ve seen a couple of his films. I think he has a presence for every role he has ever done.”

He continued, “I think David Oyelowo is someone to.. emulate. That would be a career path to look at” and with a wide smile on his face, he added “I would not be minding being called a mini David Oyelowo”.

Selma, a historical drama film centres on the Selma to Montgomery Voting Rights Marches led by civil rights activist, Martin Luther King Jr, who was known for his non-violent approach to demanding rights for black Americans.

The Ava DuVernay directed film premiered at the Rock Cathedral in Lagos as the first Hollywood movie premiere in Nigeria, with Nigerian Hollywood actors, David Oyelowo and Carmen Ejogo in attendance.

The movie was shown free to a selected audience by House on the Rock church in partnership with the U.S mission in Nigeria, to promote peace as the general elections approach.

Speaking on this, OC Ukeje expressed hope that the movie would sensitize Nigerians to be “a bit more sensitive to the things that are happening around us and to be involved in our own very little levels… just so we can create a polity that makes sense”.
