From the red carpet poses, to the dazzling outfits and the acceptance speeches, there was only one Oscar moment that was emotionally charged enough to get Hollywood celebrities teary-eyed.
That was the stellar performance of the ‘Selma’ theme song, Glory, by rapper Common and singer, John Legend.
Moments before they won the nod for Oscar’s Orignial Best Song, Common and Legend sang their hearts out, backed by a choir and brilliant stage imagery showing the rights march which the Selma movie is based on.
When the music stopped, the audience, rising to their feet burst into a loud ovation but what was most intriguing was the emotional reaction it elicited.
David Oyelowo, who plays Dr Martin Luther King Jnr. in Selma, was seen trying to hold back more tears than he had already shed; While Oprah Winfrey also tried to wipe some away.
Actor Chris Pine and a few others were also caught in the moment.
