The Technical Committee of the Channels National Kids Cup have cleared 32 primary schools that will feature at the Lagos Preliminaries.
According to the committee, the selected schools adhered to the rules and regulations of the competition and provided the requirements needed to participate in Season 7 of the football tournament.
Defending champions, Toyibat Nursery and Primary School have a chance of retaining the trophy they won last year after being cleared. But first, they will need to go through the preliminaries. Last year losing finalist, Ebute-Metta Primary School also got the approval of the committee.
Former champions, Unilag Staff School and Ladi-Lak are making a return to the competition while Excel Immaculate, Ipaja are making their debut at the grassroots football competition. Eunifrance, Highscope, St. Paul’s Anglican, CMS primary school, Dr. Teslim Elias and Army Children School, Abule-Egba received clearance to participate in the preliminaries.
Chairman of the committee, Ken Ochonogor confirmed that this is the first part of the screening, adding that the proper examination of players will be done before a game is played.
The draw for the Lagos preliminaries will be done on Thursday, March 12th 2015 at Channels Television headquarters, Isheri North and each school can attend with an official and a player.
