The fear associated with the use of card readers by INEC is beginning to manifest, as the token deployed to Ahmadu Maikwoto Primary School in Keffi, Nasarawa State, has failed to confirm complete details of card holders.
This development is causing tension among hundreds of voters who are agitating to be accredited before 1.30 pm when the first phase of the election comes to a close.
As a result, some of the voters have called for an extension of the accreditation to enable all voters present get verified to exercise their franchise.
A retired military official, Captian Aliyu Umar, stressed that delayed accreditation due to poor performance of card readers would have adverse effect on the process. He said it could lead to volatile situations, which must be guarded against.
