The Rivers State Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja has affirmed an earlier order on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the inspection of election materials.
Justice Mu’azu Pindiga ruled that the exparte order made on June 11 which compelled the electoral umpire to grant the All Progressives Congress (APC) access to election materials is still valid.
The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Dakuku Peterside, who had filed the application through his counsel Akin Olujimi, told the tribunal on Monday that INEC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have flouted the orders of the court.
However, INEC Counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) urged the court to discountenance the allegation on the grounds that the petitioner has filed no formal application to that effect, adding that no order has been served the INEC office in Port Harcourt.
Also, Counsel to Governor Nyesom Wike, Emmanuel Ukala, brought an application to set aside or vary the order of June 11 which granted access to inspect the election materials.
The court sided with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and insisted that its orders be carried out.
