Rivers Council Chairmen: Attorney General Debunks APC Court OrderRivers State’s Attorney General, Emma Aguma, has described as falsehood, claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state that there was a ruling that favoured the sacked Local Council Chairmen.

The Attorney General’s declaration is consequent to the rumour of an order from the National Industrial Court of Nigeria, Yenogoa, on Monday, calling for the reinstatement of the sacked Council Chairmen in the state.

Aguma dismissed the claims on Tuesday while addressing reporters in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, south-south Nigeria.

He revealed that he waited till Monday night to get a certified true copy of court proceedings, stressing that the document had no mention or reference to the matter reinstating the sacked chairmen.

“Order Still Stands “

In response, the Head of the Legal Team of Rivers State APC, Henry Odili, noted in an interview with Channels Television that Aguma was only trying to be clever by half.

Odili said the Attorney General did not reveal to the public, the actions that led to the final submission of the trial judge.

According to him, the court refused to grant the prayers of the defendants to vacate its earlier order that restrained Governor Nyesom Wike and his agents from sacking the council chairmen.

Odili posited that the APC strongly believed that “the order still stands”, demanding that the Chairmen should be reinstated.
