The Niger State Government has announced plans to procure safety gadgets for all public buildings in all local government areas of the state.
Secretary to the State Government, Mr Shehu Danyaya spoke at a meeting in Minna, Niger State capital on Saturday.
He said that the plan would reduce fire outbreaks in the state.
Mr Danyaya also said that the State Government would commence training of officers who will man the equipment.
However, officials of the fire service had promised to train fire fighters, but key players believed that nothing meaningful can be achieved at all levels.
In Nigeria, public buildings are sometimes not insured or provided with safety gadgets that could help ameliorate fire incidences.
With commitments from both parties to ensure that fire disasters are avoided in the future, it appears that the state will soon have less cases of fire outbreaks.
