According to the Australian government, the donation of the materials was part of efforts to reduce the challenges faced by the displaced persons.

The donation was made to IDPs living in New Kuchingoro Layout of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Speaking at the occasion, the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Jonathan Richardson, expressed concerns over the challenges that the IDPs were facing.

He said there was the need to cushion the negative effect of terrorism on the lives of such persons.

The Kuchingoro Camp of the Internally Displaced Persons also benefitted from a borehole funded by the Australian government.

The IDPs are majorly from north-east Nigeria where Boko Haram terrorists have carried out series of attacks on communities.
