Pipeline Vandalism Has Hampered Delta’s Development – Okowa

OkowaDelta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has taken steps to fix failed portions of the Warri-Sapele road in the oil-rich state.

As part of urban renewal and infrastructural development in the state located in southern Nigeria, the Governor has also started an inspection of road constructions in different parts of the state.

Governor Okowa made the revelation shortly after he inspected the failed portions of the Benin-Warri Federal dual-carriage way.

He directed the state’s Ministry of Works and Direct Labour Agency to come up with estimates to enable the Delta State Government intervene in effecting the reconstruction of the failed portions.

Announcing his satisfaction with the pace of the on-going projects in the state, Senator Okowa reiterated his commitment to completing the projects before the rains set in.

Commenting on the Governor’s efforts, commuters and indigenes in the state commended the government for taking up the initiative to ease their movement.

Market women at the Cable Market in Asaba, the Delta State capital also expressed happiness with the road dualisation project.

Senator Okowa was accompanied by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Mr Kingsley Otuaro; the Commissioner for Works, Mr James Augoye and the Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah.

Other road projects inspected are the rehabilitation and overlay of Jeddo-Ughoton road in Okpe Local Government Area (LGA), the construction of access road to Eagle Heights University, Omadino in Warri South LGA, as well as the Asaba Airport projects.
