The Federal Government has reaffirmed its determination to meet the June 2017 deadline set by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for migration from analogue to digital broadcasting.
The Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed, said this while briefing State House correspondents on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammad Buhari.
Council’s decision is following a briefing by the Minister on the process of the migration to digital broadcasting.
According to the Minister, the pilot scheme in Jos, the Plateau State capital is working out very well as 15 stations can be viewed on a digital platform.
According to the minister the relevant ministers are enjoined to work with the Ministry of Information to ensure a smooth transition.
