200 Tennis Players Storm Osun For Competition To Honour Ooni About 200 tennis players from South West Nigeria and Kwara state will storm Osun State for a 3-day competition to be organized by the Osogbo Tennis Club in honour of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

The competition dubbed ‘Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi 1st Annual Invitational Tennis Tourney’, will see ten clubs from Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, and Kwara states, slugging it out.

The club’s Secretary, Mr Kayode Oladeji, who spoke to Channels Television correspondent in Osun state, said that the competition was being put in place to coincide with the first anniversary of the Ooni’s coronation.

“We are doing this to celebrate the Ooni as he turns one year on the throne.

“We discovered that one of the kabiyesi’s philosophy is in tandem with our own philosophy which is youth empowerment, and we know that through the programme many youths will further be encouraged to go into tennis and the nation as well will benefit from this,” he stressed.

“Oba Ogunwusi, Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola among other dignitaries, are expected to grace the finals scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2016,‎” Oladeji added.

According to Oladeji, the 3-day event slated for Wednesday, December 14 to Saturday 17, 2016, would see the participation of the following clubs:

Osogbo Tennis Club, Osogbo,

Ibadan Tennis club, Ibadan,

Obafemi Awolowo Tennis Club, Ibadan,

Skye Tennis Club, ikeja, Lagos and

Lagos Lawn Tennis Club. Lagos.

Ondo Senior Civil Service Club (Tennis Family), Akure,

Kwara Sports Club, Ilorin.

OAU Tennis Club, Ile-Ife

Abeokuta Tennis club, Abeokuta.
