The Ogun State owned Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) says it is ready to partner with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ogun State Branch on prompt medical response to victims.

This is towards reducing and avoiding loss of lives of accident victims on roads across the State.

This was made known by the TRACE Corps Commander, Olaseni Ogunyemi during a familiarisation visit by the executives of the association at his office in Abeokuta.

Commander Ogunyemi said the step became imperative as the agency was considering more swift responses towards preventing loss of lives of accident victims, saying medical professionals needed to be involved, so as to ensure that necessary treatments were given to the victims at every point in time.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NMA, Mr. Abayomi Olajide, said the purpose of the visit was to discuss with the management of the Corps on areas of cooperation and assistance, particularly on training of its operatives on how best to handle accident victims without causing more harm.

Olajide commended the effort of officers and men of the Corps for discharging their responsibilities efficiently and effectively since inception, saying they have helped in reducing carnage on the road.

‘’In view of this, as part of the association’s mandate to save lives of citizenry, we decided to move closer to the Corps to know the challenges facing them and to see how to have a good partnership, concerning emergency and other logistic on the road”, he stated.

He highlighted the benefits of the partnership which includes training of operatives on how to handle and manage accident victims, capacity building in the area of leadership style, medical management communication, stressing the need for the government to provide equipment in various hospitals across the State and facilitate timely treatment of accident victims.
