The Edo State Government has unveiled plans to commence the construction of 45 roads across the state, using the concrete cement technology.

He also noted that over 80 per cent of manpower would be needed to execute the projects sourced locally.

The State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, disclosed this during the commissioning of the 500 meter concrete cement Nevis Street Road Project in Benin City, the state capital.

“This is one of the oldest streets in this country. This street was designed almost 500 years ago by the Portuguese and when you look at the design of this city which was done during the time of Oba Esigie, the design is so interesting and intricate,” Governor Obaseki told the happy residents who came to witness the commissioning.

The residents expressed gratitude to the governor for the good work done as they believe that their lives would be positively affected.

Mr Obaseki also expressed readiness to execute more road projects across the state using the same concrete cement technology which according to him, is cheaper and durable.

He had said his administration plans to construct up to 3,000 kilometers of road across the state during his first tenure.
